-The Company develops and manufactures transmission systems and components, chassis systems and components, safety technology, electronics, and sensors primarily for the passenger car and commercial vehicle markets.
-On March 28, 2019, the Company signed a binding agreement to purchase all outstanding shares of WABCO Holdings Inc. at a price of USD 136.50 per share, thus corresponding to a total price of approximately USD 7 billion. WABCO is a leading supplier of brake control systems and technologies for the commercial trucks, buses and trailers. In 2019, WABCO’s sales totaled approximately USD 3 billion. WABCO has approximately 14,000 employees in 40 countries across the world. The transaction is expected to close in the spring of 2020.
-While the Company has traditionally invested approximately 5% of its sales in research and development, it has increased its research and development ratio to over 6% since the fiscal year ended December 31, 2017, and over 7% in the fiscal year ended December 31, 2019. The Company expects to continue increasing expenditure in research and development in the future as well. The increased investment will be used to implement the Company’s corporate strategy of Next-Generation Mobility and focus on developing the fields of Vehicle Motion Control, Integrated Safety, Automated Driving and Electromobility.
